I've been drawing since I could pick up a pencil, but I never really trained in art. I took a few courses in College a lifetime ago, but I don't think that counts.

I joined the Army before I even graduated from high school, so off I went. Then I got married and had kids, got divorced and took a break from all creative endeavors to raise them. When I had the chance, I wrote and published a book called Subjugation. When that was done, I picked up my pencil again.

First, it was a few color pencil pieces, then after seeing artwork by artists like Amy Brown and Jacquelline Collen-Tarolly, I was inspired to try watercolors. I'd never used them in a serious capacity, so I hit the homework hard, learning everything I could from youtube tutorials and even contacted the artists that inspired me.

In just about any other field, the more experienced professionals might have been guarded or protective of their work, but the artists I talked to were open, lovely and helpful. Any questions I asked about techniques they answered without hesitation, far from what I expected. I consider myself graced to have found such a lovely group of artesans and I hope that one day I might be considered one of them.

This is my workspace set up where I write and draw.

I keep everthing handy so that I can act on any whim that strikes me. If a picture of a fairy flutters into my mind's eye, I can reach over and pick up a pencil. When I'm not working on a fairy, I write. Sometimes I work on a new novel like Sin, sometimes a children's story like Chelsea Turtle.

This is my Faery fig tree.

Every Fae artist has a Faery garden where flights of fancy and light visit them, and this is mine. I fancy that I see faeries darting about among the leaves and dappled sunlight, and I try my best to bring those fancies to life on paper.
